Guide to Coral Gables’s Gated Communities

Coral Gables otherwise known as “City Beautiful” offers an array of gated communities to call home:

Sunrise Harbour: Consisting of about 80 stunning homes, this waterfront community’s location is outstanding due to its proximity to Biscayne Bay, Coconut Grove and Downtown Miami. While Sunrise Harbour is slipped away towards a more private portion of Coral Gables, the neighborhood is still close by many shopping, dining and entertainment districts of Miami. Cocoplum: The Islands of Cocoplum is a residential enclave located in Coral Gables. It is a 365 acre community of luxury homes located on connecting islands, situated between Old Cutler Road and Biscayne Bay just south of the Coral Gables Waterway. It was founded in 1958 by Arthur Vining Davis (who also developed Gables Estates) & developed by ARVIDA, which was a subsidiary of Walt Disney Co. This community is about 15 minutes from downtown Coral Gables, and minutes from Coconut Grove with a 20 minute drive to the airport and downtown Miami. The South Florida market is no exception to the national housing market stress, but with help from foreign buyers and investors we’ve experienced a boost in sales. Perhaps, the most challenging area is the single family luxury homes market. With homes priced in the millions the average sold is one a month. When compared to the average of 39 sales a month for median and lower priced homes luxury real estate may seem like a tough sell. Even so, 2011 saw its share of multimillion dollar sales, leaving one with the impression that the Miami luxury market is still in demand.
