EWM is #1 in Total Sales of Million Dollar-Plus Residences in Miami-Dade County

As the resurgence of South Florida’s high-end residential real estate market continues, EWM Realty International continues as Miami-Dade County’s number one brokerage in the sale of million-dollar plus properties for the 12-month period ending August 30, 2013, according to data from the Southeast Florida Regional Multiple Listing Service (MLS).

During the month of August, EWM reported 41 transactions in excess of one million dollars, compared to 31 transactions for the second-highest ranked brokerage and 18 transactions for the third ranked.

Year-on-year numbers, September 2012 through August 2013, EWM was number one with a total of 429 transactions in excess of one million dollars, compared to 336 and 283, respectively, for the second- and third- ranked brokerages.

“It is an astounding figure,” said EWM President & CEO Ron Shuffield.  “This level of sales reflects that our Associates have closed an average of more than one single-family home or condominium residence every 24 hours during this past year.  In addition, EWM has been a leading Realtor this year in the pre-sale of Miami-Dade’s newest luxury condos, most of which will be completed over the next 12 to 24 months. Versace Mansion Sold at Auction

The famous Versace mansion sold yesterday at auction for $41.5 million. The buyer was the Nakash family of Jordache jeans. They plan to convert the Mediterranean-style mansion into a hotel using the Versace name.Joe Nakash, the chairmain of Jordache Enterprises, said ” We bought history. We paid $41.5 million for it and it’s going to stay as it is.” They will approach the Versace family about licensing the name

The villa was originally listed for $125 million but went on the auction block after lenders foreclosed on owner Peter Loftin. The closed-door auction had only three bidders at the auction. Donald Trump, who is redeveloping an 800-acre golf course in Doral; Palm Beach Polo and Country Club owner Glenn Straub; and VM South Beach, owned by the Nakash family of Jordache jeans fame. The requirements of the auctioneer, Miami-based Fisher Auction Co., were a $3 million deposit placed in escrow and proof of at least $40 million in liquid assets.

The house was sold with the furnishings, stain glass and mosaic arranged in the eccentric, baroque style of Versace. Features include a 24-karat gold-lined swimming pool.
