The Coral Gables Farmers Market is Back

On Saturday January 12, 2013 the Coral Gables Farmers Market will start its 22nd season. More than 60 vendors will be selling an array of farm-fresh products, artisan foods, flowers, spices, tea & more.  The market is from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. in front of City Hall, 405 Biltmore Way (between Miracle Mile & LeJune Rd), every Saturday until March 23, 2013. 

This Saturday at 8 a.m. there will be a free tai chi class, gardening class at 9 a.m., a cooking demonstration at 10 a.m. with children’s activities beginning at 11 a.m. & live music.

New Year’s Eve Dinner Options

With New Year’s eve fast approaching I decided to write about all the different dining options available in Miami for New Year’s Eve. You will find everything from fancy buffets to six-course meals, from South Beach to Aventura to Doral and everywhere in between.

  • 1500 Degrees at Eden Roc. NYE Dinner at 1500 Degrees: Enjoy a four-course meal with dishes like creamy sunchoke bisque with shaved winter truffles, pasta with Maine scallop and spiny lobster with uni butter sauce, roasted Monkfish with crispy rice croquettes, collards and Zellwood creamed corn, and warm chocolate cake with orange marmalade.   • 660 at the Angler’s. New Year’s Eve Gala: First seating starts at 6 p.m. and includes a three-course meal with options such as lobster bisque, stuffed dates and Manchego cheese roasted pork loin, and chocolate tres leches for $100. For $150, the second seating, which begins at 9:30 p.m., includes a five-course meal that starts off with a sweet pea shot, scallops tiradito, compressed watermelon, dulce de leche, pinenut crusted rack of lamb, and peach and blueberry cobbler. The Junior Orange Bowl Parade December 31, 2012

The signature event of the Junior Orange Bowl International Youth Festival! Hundreds of children and young people take to the streets of Downtown Coral Gables in this celebration of active youth and community! The Junior Orange Bowl Parade is a 64-year tradition in South Florida created especially for the kids — and perfect for families. Featuring a vivid arrangement of marching bands, colorful floats, community groups and creative parade units, this Junior Orange Bowl Parade is a dazzling spectacle that is not to be missed and certainly won’t be forgotten.

Save The Date: 62nd Annual Beaux Arts Festival Of Art

The 62nd Annual Beaux Arts’ Festival of Art will take place January 19th through 20th, 2013 on the beautiful grounds of University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. Thousands of patrons visit the Festival to view and purchase art from over 200 exhibitors from around the US and abroad. The Beaux Arts’ Festival of Art offers art for many budgets, live eclectic music and other free entertainment, children’s art experiences, fabulous dining options, and free admission all weekend to the Lowe Art Museum. This is one of my favorite art festivals.

When: January 19 – 20, 2013

Time: 10 AM – 5PM

Coral Gables 2012 Holiday Spectacular

This Friday December 7, 2012 is Coral Gables Holiday Tree Lighting. Celebrate the holiday season with the City of Coral Gables. The Holiday Spectacular will include pictures with Santa, children’s activities, rides, food, music, performances and of course the lighting of the Christmas Tree & more. The fun takes place at Merrick Park (across from City Hall) 405 Biltmore Way from 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm with the tree lighting at 7:00 pm. 

Here is the schedule of  activities:

5:00 – 10:00 pm Ongoing:  Carnival Games, Carnival Rides, Face painting, arts & crafts, food

Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot

Holidays are all about family, tradition and fun memories. The Baptist Health South Florida’s Turkey Trot presented by Publix combines all three. Grab the family and come out to South Florida’s largest Thanksgiving Day race where you have the option of running, walking or trotting a 10K or 5K & separate kids race.
