Gifford Lane Art Stroll

This Sunday March 3, 2013 is the Gifford Lane Art Stroll at Coconut Grove. The festivities are from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Gifford Lane between Day and Oak. There will be food, drinks, family activities,  live music and will feature over 60 Artists.

A portion of the artist sales proceeds will be donated to: St. Alban’s Child Enrichment Center & St. Stephen’s AIDS Ministry.

South Miami Rotary Art Festival

The Rotary Club of South Miami proudly presents its 30th annual festival Saturday and Sunday, February 23-24, 2013. The South Miami Rotary Art Festival takes place in the vibrant downtown area of South Miami on Sunset Drive (SW 72nd Street) from US 1 to Red Road (SW 57th Avenue) adjacent to The Shops at Sunset Place. The area is filled with historic buildings, restaurants and unique shops. There is free admission for patrons with ample nearby parking on-street and in garages. The festival features 148 outstanding artists, a fine expanded food court and beer garden, a Children’s Alley, and mellow music.

50th Annual Coconut Grove Arts Festival

Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2013, the Coconut Grove Arts Festival® is the nation’s top outdoor fine arts festivals. The three-day festival showcases the works of over 360 of the finest artists and craftsmen in the world. A signature event of the South Florida cultural calendar, the Arts Festival is a true “Celebration of the Arts” offering visitors the opportunity to meet with exhibiting artists, sample fine cuisine, enjoy live entertainment and take in the tropical waterfront views of Coconut Grove.

In addition to the exquisite art & entertainment, festival attendees can also satisfy their appetites for gourmet cuisine in the popular Culinary Pavilion. This area of the festival invites nationally renowned chefs to prepare their famous specialty dishes. This year’s chefs will represent the hottest restaurants and hotels from South Florida, including popular local chef Giorgio Rapicavoli, founder of the pop-up restaurant Eating House, and winner of The Food Network’s “Chopped”. Chef Douglas Rodriguez of de Rodriguez Cuba, Chef John Richards of TUYO and the Short Chef™, among many others, will also be participating in this year’s festival.

Nearly one mile of arts, food and fun, the Festival is held annually in the streets of Coconut Grove, Florida – a charming village within the city of Miami. The Festival is located just south of downtown Miami, adjacent to beautiful Biscayne Bay. It runs along the streets of McFarlane Road, South Bayshore Drive and Pan American Drive.

Gates open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m.

General admission is $10 per person per day.

Offers a three-course menu featuring grilled octopus ceviche, heirloom tomato salad, pork filet and Angus NY steak. $125 per couple.

Clothing Drive for the families of Burkina Faso, Africa

On Saturday February 23 from 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm Out of Africa Store in the heart of the beautiful Coconut Grove inside the Mayfair (2911 Grand Ave # 402, Coconut Grove, FL 33133), will be holding a clothing drive to collect as many shoes, socks, clothing, blankets, etc. to send to the village of Burkina Faso, Africa. There will be live music & drums, complimentary appetizers, store discounts & more. Admission is free with any Clothes/Shoes donation.

Jazz in the Gables

By popular demand Jazz in the Gables is back. Lunchtime Jazz will take place every Wednesday beginning now through March 27, 2013 at 12:15 p.m. on the Plaza of the Coral Gables Museum (located on Salzedo Street two blocks north of Miracle Mile), and will feature a different artist each week. Box lunches by Catering by Lovables will be available for sale on-site.

There will be two additional evening concerts scheduled for February 1 and March 7, 2013 at 8 p.m. 

The event is a collaboration between the City of Coral Gables, the Coral Gables Museum, the Business Improvement District, the Miami Jazz Coop, and civic sponsors HBO Latin America, and Vizcaino, Gitlin & Zomerfeld, LLP.

Mayor Jim Cason said, “The City is pleased to be bringing back Jazz in the Gables to residents and professionals. This free music event and the chance to hear a different talented jazz performer each week continues to gain popularity, and is a great way to support the local art scene.”

4th Annual TOUR of KITCHENS January 26, 2013

The 4th Annual TOUR of KITCHENS will be held this Saturday January 26, 2013 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m..  The tour will showcase 8 of Coral Gables’ most spectacular designer kitchens. This self-guided Tour offers tastings, table settings, the sale of special foodie merchandise or home goods, and/or a cooking demonstration. After you pick up a program and map at the starting point Snaidero kitchens + design showroom (4110 Ponce de Leon Boulevard) breakfast bites, coffee and mimosa will be served, you may visit the homes in any order. The last stop on the Tour is Books & Books outdoor courtyard (265 Aragon Avenue) and will offer champagne & desserts. 

A portion of the proceeds benefit the Culinary Arts Program (CAP) at Coral Gables Senior High School. Coral Gables Community Foundation is a §501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Tickets are $50

This is an event not to be missed.
