Owners of Bal Harbour Shops Partners with Brickell CitiCentre

The owners of Bal Harbour Shops are partnering with Swire Properties on Brickell CityCentre. The Whitmans will make a “significant” equity investment in the retail portion of Brickell CityCentre and serve as co-developer with Swire Properties, which will remain the majority owner of the $1.05 billion urban shopping and mixed-use development. Both developers will equally share responsibility for all phases of the 520,000-square-feet of retail, from leasing to marketing. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Swire will still handle the office, hotel and condo components of the project. Brickell CityCentre expects to devote about 40 percent of its retail space to luxury retailers. The rest would be a mix of the type of upper moderate or premium retailers found at up-market malls like Aventura and Dadeland. Plans also include a department store and concentration of restaurants and entertainment. Brickell CityCentre is planned to open sometime in 2015.

Merrick Manor Will Now Be A Condo Tower

Back in August I wrote about a new rental building being built in Coral Gables called Merrick Manor. The building will no longer be used for rentals but instead a condo. Merrick Manor will be located at 4133 Le June Rd adjacent from Merrick Park. Coral Gables otherwise known as “City Beautiful” offers an array of gated communities to call home:

Sunrise Harbour: Consisting of about 80 stunning homes, this waterfront community’s location is outstanding due to its proximity to Biscayne Bay, Coconut Grove and Downtown Miami. While Sunrise Harbour is slipped away towards a more private portion of Coral Gables, the neighborhood is still close by many shopping, dining and entertainment districts of Miami. Cocoplum: The Islands of Cocoplum is a residential enclave located in Coral Gables. Merrick Manor Coming to Coral Gables

The Coral Gables City Commission approved Merrick Manor, a mixed-use, 180-unit rental apartment complex and retail property extending 100 feet above the ground along Le Jeune Road. Miami-based Astor Developement Holdings will build the seven story building on an old trolley yard at LeJune Road and Altara Avenue by next year. Merrick Manor is set to feature apartments ranging from 790SF. to 1,200SF. along with 11,740 square feet of retail and 5,946 square feet of office space.
