Trick or Treating Events

Miami neighborhoods offer many alternatives to the traditional house to house trick or treating to ensure safety on Halloween. Here is a list of some of the places I used to take my daughter when she was younger.

Safe Streets Halloween: Oct 31, 2012 from 4:00pm-6:00pm Sunset Drive in South Miami sponsored by Red Sunset Merchants Association. More Halloween activities in front of Sunset Place from 6:00pm-9:00pm.

Track or Treat: October 31, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Village of Pinecrest and local businesses.  Track or Treat is a safe and healthy alternative to the traditional door to door trick or treating. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The event is held at Evelyn Greer Park which is located at 8200 Southwest 124th Street in Pinecrest.

Halloween on the Mile: October 31, 2012 from 4:00pm-7:00pm on Miracle Mile.  Events include: Trick-or-Treating along Miracle Mile and its adjacent streets, Story time and Kids Activities, Kiddie Costume Contest at the Miracle Theatre, Doggy Costume Contest and much more.

Halloween Spook-tacular: October 31, 2012 from 2:00pm-6:00pm at Cocowalk in Coconut Grove. Activities include Trick-or-Treat candy, Costume Contests, Up-close Magician, Tattoo and Balloon Artists & Spooky Dance Music.

Reminder of Coral Gables Events Happening This Week.

Wednesday October 24, 2012: The 1st annual The Haunted Jaunt, a Halloween-themed Haunted House/Street Party from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm at Ponce Circle Park, Coral Gables, the “Jaunt” will feature a walk-through street fair experience in which each sponsor will have its own “haunted house” on the streets next to the Park.

Tickets are just $20 and include admission to the Haunts, a drink ticket, raffle ticket, and a coupon book. There will be a costume contest (costumes are not required, but encouraged) with prizes and multiple categories such as Best Couple, Scariest, Most Techy, etc. Vintage B&W horror movies will be shown on the lawn (also included). Drinks and food will be for sale in the park and the Jaunt will take place circling the adjacent block (see map). You can go through the Jaunt course as many times as you wish. Get a “Ghoulish Group” of 20 friends together and save 20% ($320 instead of $400 = $16 instead of $20).

 Sunday October 28, 2012: The 2nd annual Gables Bike Day from 10am – 4pm. Gables Bike Day is a family, cyclist, skater, pedestrian friendly event aimed at promoting healthy activities in Downtown Coral Gables. All proceeds will benefit Bike Walk Coral Gables, a non profit organization promoting transit use, bicycling, running and walking for daily transportation, leisure and fitness.  There will be activities such as the bike tours of Coral Gables, kids’ activities, live bands, bike polo, local restaurants and many of Miami’s bike shops. The entire route will be activated with plenty of stops for the entire family to enjoy.

Miracle Mile Eastbound lanes and Ponce De Leon will be closed for auto traffic.
