Just discovered these four house cleaning secrets!

April 17th, 2015 Written By Carol Pawley

house tips

Here are four housecleaning  tips I just discovered:

Banish Dust – Keep the humidity in your home well balanced. Too much humidity is ideal for dust mites, while low humidity causes static electricity that attracts dust. The goal is to keep your home’s humidity level between  40 and 50 percent.

Glass Shower Doors and walls –  After thoroughly cleaning glass shower doors and walls, coat them with a rain-repellant product made for car windshields. It forms an invisible barrier that causes water, oils and soap suds to roll off.

Upholstery and Carpet –  Apply protective furniture sprays and carpet sealant after a deep clean of upholstery and/or carpet, to guard against inevitable spills.

Stone Counter Tops – Repel stains by using a good countertop sealer twice a year. Spills on well-sealed granite and marble will bead instead of getting absorbed.

Enjoy our beautiful weather this weekend!

Get to know Riff

April 3rd, 2015 Written By Carol Pawley

Riff is a new video-recording app that lets users make videos with their friends. It is said to be part of Facebook’s app diversification game plan. The social giant is widely believed to be pursuing this strategy in order to generate additional revenue streams and increase mobile usage rates. Facebook is also trying to establish its relevance among young users. The U.S.’s proportion of 13- to 17-year-old social media users who are on Facebook dipped to 88% in 2014, down from 94% in 2013.

This is how it works: Riff users share a video and ask their friends to add to it any way they like. To make things more interesting, friends of friends can also contribute.  With Riff, a short video can become a cool and creative project between circles of friends.  Once the “production” is deemed finished,  it can be shared on social media, or anywhere on the Internet.

Sounds like fun!
